More About The Masters
The Masters Tournament, more commonly known as The Masters, was established 1934 in Augusta, GA making it the youngest of the four golf majors. Unlike the three other majors this tournament is an invitational event, which means less players and stiffer competition between the best golfers in the world. Each year the tournament starts on the first full week of April, making it the first of the majors each year, and is held at Augusta National Golf Club. Augusta National was designed by legendary golfer Bobby Jones and famed course designer Alister MacKenzie, and much of the original design remains intact to this day.
Before The Masters begins, the Champions Dinner is held with all of the previous winners and certain board members from the golf club. The winner of The Masters is automatically invited to the other three majors, given the distinguished Green Jacket, and a top prize of $1,620,000 this year.
Winning the Masters is a rite of passage for all golfers that aspire for greatness. Jack Nicklaus. Arnold Palmer. Sam Snead. Nick Faldo. Gary Player. Seve Ballesteros. Tiger Woods. Phil Mickelson. They have all earned multiple Green Jackets, and Bubba Watson most recently joined the club after he won his second in 2014. Woods holds the record for lowest score in relation to par for The Masters as well as The Open. Nicklaus holds the record for the most Green Jackets with six, and became the oldest winner at The Masters in 1986 at the age of 46 years, 82 days old.
Augusta National is one of the bucket list items for all serious golf fans. There's something truly special about this tournament, so grab your Masters tickets today and become a part of tradition.
