One of the six teams added to the NHL in 1967, The Penguins have had some of the greatest players to play the game play for the organization. From Jaromir Jagr to Mario Lemieux to present day superstar Sidney Crosby, the Penguins have been a contender in the Eastern Conference since their inception into the league. In their four Stanley Cup appearances, the club has won three including back-to-back Stanley Cups in 1991 and 1992. Most recently, the Penguins won the 2008-2009 season with the help of outstanding postseason performances from Marc-Andre Fleury(goaltender), Evgeni Malkin (center) and Sidney Crosby(center). With their three superstars remaining in Pittsburgh, the club looks to the future and are always amongst the favorites for the top seed in the Eastern Conference.
the 2014-2015 season will be no exception. Despite new head coach Mike Johnston stepping in for the fired Dan Bylsma, expect to see the Penguins competing for a top spot in the Eastern Conference in the 2014-2015 season.
Pittsburgh Penguins 2014-2015 schedule
The Penguins begin their season at home where they face off against a tough western conference opponent in the Anaheim Ducks. This matchup may have the potential to be a Stanley Cup final preview if both clubs remain healthy throughout the season and postseason. The Penguins end their season away from home in Buffalo against the Sabres.
