The Sooners coming off a victory in last season’s Sugar Bowl against Alabama look to build off their regular season run. Ending the season with winning their last three games including a 33-24 against bitter rival Oklahoma State, Bob Stoops Sooners will fight to get into the playoff picture.
Ranking 2nd in the Big 12 for yards per game, the Sooners have been able to consistently excel in the running game. Despite losing Brennan Clay, Damien Williams, and Roy Finch, sophomores Alex Ross and Keith Ford look ready to step up. Led by sophomore year quarterback Trevor Knight who had a breakout performance against Alabama in last year’s Sugar Bowl will have to play with consistent effort.
The Sooners are igniting life back at tight end with former quarterback Blake Bell moving to the tight end position who can be utilized a number of ways with his size and potential to be a nightmare for matchups in the red zone. Jalen Saunders and Lacolton Bester having made an exit leave the race is wide open for Oklahoma’s receiver corps. Sterling Shepard already being solidified to be a playmaker on offense, it will interesting to keep an eye on names such as Durron Neal, Derrick Woods, and K.J. Young to name a few who add depth for Oklahoma at receiver.
Oklahoma’s defensive line ranked No. 1 last year in the Big 12 after installing a new system. With names such as Dominque Alexander, Quentin Hayes, Eric Striker, and Chris Tapper, Jordan Phillips down the middle the Sooners defense with another year of experience can finish in the nations top 10 this year.
