After the Minnesota North Stars were relocated to Dallas in 1993, Minnesota were deprived of a hockey team, but in 1997 regained a hockey franchise. Based out of St. Paul, The Minnesota WIld were born into a hockey “wild” fanbase. High school and college hockey are massive sporting attractions within the state of Minnesota, and the high school state hockey championship are held at the Wilds arena, The Xcel Energy Center.
In recent years, the WIld have added some big name players to bolster their roster. With big additions such as Ryan Suter, Zach Parise, Thomas Vanek and MIkko Koivu, fans are hopeful that the team will reach the Stanley Cup for the first time in franchise history.
