Hedwig and the Angry Inch tickets are the hottest commodity on Broadway today. The musical is about a fictional rock band fronted by an East German transgender singer whose sex change surgery has gone horribly wrong, leaving her with “The Angry Inch”.

The text is by John Cameron Mitchell, and the story draws on Mitchell's life as the son of a U.S. Army Major General who once commanded the U.S. sector of occupied West Berlin. The story is told by Hedwig directly to the audience as an extended monologue, and recounts Hedwig’s journey from a young girlish boy named Hansel in East Berlin to her marriage (“Sugar Daddy”) and subsequent abandonment by an American soldier (“The Long Grift”) and forming of the band.

Production History

Hedwig and the Angry Inch premiered Off-Broadway at the Jane Street Theatre on February 14, 1998 and closed on April 9, 2000. It ran on the West End in London from September 19 to November 4, 2000, and has toured internationally in the UK, Italy, Canada, Austria, Germany and more.

Its first Broadway production began on March 29, 2014 at the Belasco Theatre, spearheaded by Neil Patrick Harris, won several Tony Awards including Best Revival of a Musical and is now playing indefinitely. So rock out with the band and grab your Hedwig tickets to see the musical that’s taking Broadway by storm.
