Hairspray Ticket Information
“You Can’t Stop the Beat!” Tickets to Hairspray guarantee you seats to a classic Broadway show that wishes you “Welcome to the Sixties” with open arms.
In 1962 Baltimore (“Good Morning Baltimore”), plump teenager Tracy Turnblad's dream is to dance on the local TV dance show The Corny Collins Show (“The Nicest Kids in Town”). When Tracy wins a role on the show, she becomes a celebrity overnight, and former star of the show Amber Von Tussle and her mother Velma vow to take her down by any means necessary (“Velma’s Revenge”).
Meanwhile, after run-ins with The Corny Collins Show’s extremely talented “Negro Day” performers Seaweed and Motormouth Maybelle, Tracy launches a campaign to integrate the show (“Run and Tell That”). Hairspray is a social commentary on race relations in ‘60s America that’s a blast to watch, so grab your tickets for Hairspray today.
Fans have been jumping to get Hairspray tickets since the show opened on Broadway at the Neil Simon Theatre on August 15, 2002. It won eight Tony Awards and the original production ran for over six years. The West End production opened at the Shaftesbury Theatre on October 11, 2007, and the Australian production opened in Melbourne on October 2, 2010 to critical acclaim.
The first U.S. national tour started in September 2003 in Baltimore and ended in June 2006, after which a non-Equity U.S. and Asian tour opened in Atlantic City's Harrah's Casino. The tour played in Tokyo, Shanghai and Beijing, concluding in California on April 25, 2010
