The French Open is referred to as the Roland Garros and was started in 1891. It is named after the French Aviator Roland Garros and is the second tournament in the four annual Grand Slam tournaments. The tournament is normally held two weeks between late May and early June. Each year the French Open is held in Paris, France at Stade Roland Garros.Just Like the Australian Open there are singles, doubles, and mixed doubles.

Originally the French Open was only open to tennis players who were members of French clubs. In 1924 it became open to all tennis players. Recent winners are: Rafael Nadal (men’ singles), Julien Benneteau/Edouard Roger Vasselin (men’s doubles), Maria Sharapova (women’s singles), Hsieh Su-wei/Peng Shuai (women’s doubles), and Ana-Lena Gronefeld/Jean-Julien Rojer (mixed doubles).
