The Edmonton Oilers of the 1980’s are amongst some of the greatest hockey teams assembled in NHL history. From their founding in 1972 it did not take long for the Oilers franchise to find success. In the early 1980’s the Islanders won four straight cups from 1979-1983 The Oilers won two straight in the ‘84 and ’85 seasons. The Oilers lost a tough second round series to the Calgary Flames the following season. The Oilers then bounced back to win three straight Stanley Cups with great players including Mark Messier and Wayne Gretzky. It is regarded as one of the greatest hockey teams the the NHL has ever witnessed. The Oilers are currently in a state of rebuild. They have not seen much success in recent years. The fans have been waiting for a Stanley Cup to return to Edmonton, so grab your Oilers tickets and watch this team return to dominance!
