More About Cincinnati Reds

Established: 1881 (Cincinnati Reds since 1890)

Stadium: Great American Ballpark

World Series Titles: Five (1919, 1940, 1975, 1976, 1990)

Notable Players: Pete Rose, Johnny Bench, Joe Morgan, Barry Larkin, Joey Votto, Brandon Phillips, Frank Robinson

During the 1970s, the Cincinnati Reds were the class of the National League. The Big Red Machine won four NL Pennants and two World Series titles. Pete Rose, Johnny Bench, Joe Morgan and more led some of the greatest teams of the era that played hard, smart, and won a ton of ballgames. The Reds won another title in 1990 behind Barry Larkin, Paul O’Neill and a new class of players, but since then Cincinnati has only returned to the playoffs four times.

Injuries plagued the Reds in 2014, but Cincinnati isn’t going anywhere in the NL Central picture anytime soon. The Reds still have a strong core centered around young stars Joey Votto, Todd Frazier, Billy Hamilton, Johnny Cueto, Mat Latos, and closer Aroldis Chapman. When healthy, the Reds are serious contenders in the division and the National League, and sooner or later they are going to break through to the World Series again.

The Reds play at Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati, and fans can expect plenty of fireworks in this stadium. The ballpark routinely surrenders around 200 home runs a year, which should be plenty reason to take in a game. Get your Reds tickets today and catch some great baseball!

Cincinnati Reds 2014 Schedule

The Cincinnati Reds host every National League team over the course of the 162-game season, but their most hotly-contested games come against their rivals from the NL Central. During the 70s and 80s, the Reds and Los Angeles Dodgers fought for NL supremacy, but now Cincinnati’s main rival is the St. Louis Cardinals. These times don’t hide their disdain for one another. The benches have cleared multiple times in recent years, so it’s always intense when these two teams get together. Make sure you check out the Cincinnati Reds 2014 Schedule and find a game or team you want to see!
