More About Chicago Cubs

Established: 1870 (Chicago Cubs since 1903)

Stadium: Wrigley Field

World Series Titles: Two (1907, 1908)

Notable Players: Ernie Banks, Sammy Sosa, Cap Anson, Ryne Sandberg, Billy Williams, Ron Santo, Kerry Wood, Mark Prior, Mark Grace

The Chicago Cubs haven’t won a World Series trophy in 105 seasons, the longest streak without a title in North American sports history. But that doesn’t stop everyone from loving the Cubs, who have earned the title “Lovable Losers” over the years. Unless you’re a fan of another team in the NL Central, it’s hard to dislike the Cubs. They are the oldest active professional franchise in American sports (starting out in 1870 as the Chicago White Stockings) and have existed in Chicago for the entirety of their existence.

The Cubs won their only titles in 1907 and 1908, and they have been back to the World Series seven times since then. Each time, they have come up empty-handed. Some of their close calls have been excruciating, like the infamous “Bartman” game in the 2003 NLCS. But still, the Cubs play on. The roster is filled with some exciting young talent. The team just called up star prospect Javier Baez and acquired another top prospect in Addison Russell. There’s still a lot of work to be done, but the Cubs are hoping for a quick rebuild period.

But no matter how competitive the team is, a visit to Wrigley Field remains one of the gold standards in all of baseball. One of the finest stadiums in the game, there aren’t many experiences like taking in a game at Wrigley. It represents baseball at its purest without all of the bells and whistles. Celebrities come and sing “Take Me Out to the Ballgame”. And when the Cubs win, it’s even sweeter. So get your Cubs tickets and have one of the best experiences baseball can offer.

Chicago Cubs 2014 Schedule

The Chicago Cubs play a tough division schedule every season in the NL Central. Their most heated rivals are the St. Louis Cardinals, but expect hard-fought contests between the Cubs and Pittsburgh Pirates, Milwaukee Brewers, and Cincinnati Reds as well. Whenever the Cubs and White Sox play, Chicago gets to watch as bragging rights are played for. But really, no matter who comes to play at the magisterial Wrigley Field, it’s an incredible experience for baseball fans both young and old.
