Perhaps no team had as active an offseason as the Atlantic Division champion Brooklyn Nets. Their coach and former legendary point guard Jason Kidd is now in Milwaukee. Paul Pierce, the key player in a major 2013 trade with the Boston Celtics, is in Washington D.C. with the Wizards. Lionel Hollins will man the bench this season on the heels of a 44-win season that ended with a series loss to the Miami Heat.
The Nets are hoping they can continue the trend of scoring balance last season, which saw 6 players average double figures led by Brook Lopez’s 20.7 PPG. The Nets are hoping Lopez can play more than the 17 games he played last year due to foot injuries. Lopez, one of the game’s top young centers, is the anchor inside on both ends of the floor but expects to get help from one of the game’s best leaders in Kevin Garnett. But the team will go as far as point guard Deron Williams’ ankles will take them. Williams, once one of the NBA’s top assist men, averaged just 6.1 assists per game a number that has decreased each year since 2010-11. It should be a fun year, so get your Brooklyn Nets tickets soon!
