David Tyree With Interesting Take on Gay Marriage

In this article…

New York Giant's wide receiver and Super Bowl XLII hero David Tyree spoke out against gay marriage during an interview with the National Organization for Marriage on Wednesday.

During the interview, Tyree is asked about the push to legalize gay   marriage   in the United States -- and says if it happens, "This will be the beginning of our country sliding toward ... it's a strong word, but anarchy."

And the kicker, Tyree -- who's black -- says, "How can marriage be marriage for thousands of years and now all the sudden because a minority, an influential minority, has a push or agenda ... and totally reshapes something that was not founded in our country."

Tyree's comments come days after former teammate Michael Strahan filmed a public service announcement that supports the legalization of gay marriage in New York. Strahan is the latest athlete to make a pro gay marriage statement.

In recent weeks, New York Rangers forward Sean Avery and Phoenix Suns point guard Steve Nash also filmed video segments produced by Human Rights Campaign, a national organization leading the effort to legalize same-sex marriage in New York.
