Plaxico Burress Out of Jail, Looking to Play Football

Plaxico Burress was released from jail on Monday after spending nearly 20 months behind bars for essentially hurting himself

Via ESPN New York:
"I'd like to thank everybody for their prayers and words of encouragement," Burress continued in his brief time with reporters outside the prison. "I'd like to thank all my fans all around the world for the thousands of letters, for their unwavering support. As far as football is concerned, if and when everything gets settled, when they get back on the field, I'll be ready."

The natural question is where will the former Giants wide receiver play if and when the NFL season starts? Friend and former teammate Brandon Jacobs, Via ESPN New York, has an opinion:

"There is no chance Plaxico Burress is a New York Giant after he comes home," Jacobs said while attending teammate Justin Tuck's celebrity billiards event in Manhattan.

"He isn't coming to the Giants," Jacobs added. "He's got options. I would love for him to be a part of the Giants. I don't think that is even on his plate."

Burress is in a similar situation to the one Michael Vick found himself in, who served three more months than Burress for running a dogfighting operation. Vick gave advice to the newly released wide receiver.

Pro Football Talk:

"We all Eagles would love to have Plaxico as a teammate,” Vick said. “I think he would be a great fit. You know, I think he would be a great playmaker for us. It all remains to be seen. I think the thing for him right now is to get back, acclimated into society and with his family and then talk football later.”

It'll be interesting to see how the former Super Bowl winner adjusts to life out of jail and on the field.

Let Charged.fm get you the best seats to see Burress' return and the rest of the NFL.

Also, Tommy Craggs at Deadspin would like to remind you that Burress was not wearing sweatpants when he shot himself.
