Dez Fafara Talks New Coal Chamber Album, Upcoming Touring Plans and More

Dez Fafara frontman of Coal Chamber (and DevilDriver) spoke all about plans for the upcoming album. The new release will be Coal Chamber’s first album in well over a decade since their 2002 disc Dark Days. Fafara makes it clear that fans should not expect a “throw back record.” It’s a big year for Coal Chamber as they are also gearing up to tour with Filter and Combichrist as well. Check out our exclusive interview with Dez Fafara below:

How was the overall recording and creative process for you on this new album?

It was an absolute pleasure recording this music, the studio was a great time and we put in a ton of hours to make the best art possible.

It’s been well over a decade since the last record, how was it to work with your Coal Chamber bandmates again?

I had a blast and everyone else involved did as well. The chemistry was totally there from day one . It's like we had never disbanded.

What can fans expect from this new material?

Don't expect a " throw back record." I don't think anyone would want to be part of that kind of thing. What you will get is a well thought out recurs that has so many good moments and a record that will move you for sure!

Have you picked a name and release date for it yet?

We are picking the title now and expect a thrill ride cause this thing is a monster of a record!

With a new album comes touring, talk about the forthcoming trek in March and April with Filter and Combichrist. What are you looking forward to most about this experience?

It'll be good to get on the road again with Coal Chamber and I'm looking forward to hanging out with all that are part of this run.
