SF Sketchfest Announces 2015 Lineup

The iconic SF Sketchfest San Francisco Comedy Festival will return to the Bay Area from January 22 through February 8, and to say that this event is going above and beyond might be an understatement. The programming included is a comedy nerd's dream brought to life. It's going to take 20 venues across the city to hold in all of this comedy goodness. Just check out a brief sampling of the kinds of shows people can look forward to via a press release:

SF Sketchfest 2015 features in-person tributes to iconic actor/writer/directors and Spinal Tap creators Christopher Guest, Michael McKean and Harry Shearer, parody genius “Weird Al” Yankovic in conversation with Chris Hardwick, comedy and magic legends Penn & Teller, WTF podcaster Marc Maron, and indie comedy duo Scharpling & Wurster; salutes to “Newsradio” with a 20th anniversary cast reunion, Broken Lizard and Preston Sturges; spotlights on film favorites including “The Princess Bride” Quote-Along™ screening with Cary Elwes, Better Off Dead” 30th Anniversary Live Read and “But I’m A Cheerleader” with Natasha Lyonne; celebrations of animated comedies “Animaniacs,” “Aqua Teen Hunger Force,” “Futurama” and a “Dr. Katz Professional Therapist” 20th Anniversary Show; popular radio programs StarTalk Live with Bill Nye the Science Guy and Eugene Mirman and NPR’s Ask Me Another; appearances by comedians and actors including Maria Bamford, W Kamau Bell, Doug Benson, Wyatt Cenac, John Cho, Margaret Cho, Adam Devine, Tate Donovan, Jeff Garlin, Janeane Garofalo, John Hodgman, Pete Holmes, Natasha Leggero, Kevin McDonald, Busy Philipps, Kristen Schaal, Adam Scott, Jenny Slate, Jennifer Tilly, Paul F. Tompkins, Stephnie Weir; top comedy collectives The Groundlings, Upright Citizens Brigade and w00tstock; and musical performances by Maya Rudolph’s Prince-cover band Princess playing the classic album “Purple Rain,” John Darnielle, Garfunkel & Oates, Rhett Miller and Bob Mould; and many more.

That's just the tip of the iceberg. Check out the trailer promoting the fest, which features a special cameo by the omnipresent Paul F. Tompkins:

If I were in San Francisco, I don't know that I'd be able to contain myself. From the podcasts to the standup to the sketch shows and film screenings, I can imagine being torn over which events to see and which to skip. The things that stand out to me when I pour through the lineup (which you can with the full listing below): U Talking U2 To Me? with Scott Aukerman and Adam Scott, the tribute to Christopher Guest, Michael McKean & Harry Shearer, Judge John Hodgman, StarTalk Live with Bill Nye the Science Guy & Eugene Mirman, Animaniacs Live and The Birthday Boys. But that's only a handful of hilarious happenings, and it's leaving out so many amazing events. With so much to choose from, there will be plenty of happy festival-goers in San Francisco this January and February.

Here's the complete event listing, where you can grasp just how hilarious an event this is going to be.
