The ‘Noles erase a 21-0 deficit to beat the Cardinals and remain undefeated

Florida State win 24th straight in Louisville

It almost seemed like a foregone conclusion at halftime. The undefeated Florida State Seminoles were trailing on the road. Jameis Winston was playing poorly and the offense turned the ball over three times in the first half. Down 21 with roughly two minutes to go in the first half, Winston marches the Noles down the field to make it 21-7 at the half. As anyone who has watched Florida State during the Jameis Winston era knew, it was only a matter of time before the Noles staged a comeback.

Unlike the first half, the Noles were able to run the football far more effectively behind freshman running back Dalvin Cook. The freshman had his first breakout game with nine carries, 110 yards and two touchdowns. When you average 12.2 yards a carry, it becomes chaos for any defense when they cannot stop the run. In the first half Louisville were stout in containing the run game. They could not stop it after that. There shell shock run game opened things up for Jameis Winston in the second half. Jameis threw for 401 yards on 25 completions, three touchdowns and three interceptions.

The Noles defense also stepped up in the second half, allowing only 10 points. Florida State outscored the Cardinals 35-10 in the second half to complete the comeback 42-31.

Florida State has looked shaky in recent weeks. They are not unbeatable. One loss this season for Florida State could shake up the entire college football playoffs, and there are plenty of teams on the outside looking in that would love to see the Seminoles fall.
