Outkast Returning to Atlanta For First Time in Over 10 Years

Editor's Note: The duo shook off the rust by the time they got to Governors Ball, because they were phenomenal there. Loved their set, and they are going to really turn up Atlanta. - Ross

After reuniting in April for the first time since 2002, Outkast will be returning again, but this time to their hometown of Atlanta with a ton of big names joining them. Announced last week, Kid Cudi, Childish Gambino and Raury will be jointing the duo at the much awaited performances at  Atlanta’s Centennial Olympic Park from Friday, September 26th to Sunday, September 28th. Since the hometown show is so anticipated tickets that the first two dates Friday, September 26th and Saturday September 27th have been completely sold out.

Celebrating their 20 year anniversary at Coachella and performing at over 40 festivals around the world, Outkast has already made headlines worldwide, but nothing beats the return of Outkast to their hometown of Atlanta, Georgia. During the hiatus, both Andre 3000 and Big Boi have been featured and collaborated with other artists, one can only speculate whether their past collaborators will join them at this reunion to perform some of their more recent songs and their classics.

After their "disappointing" appearance at Coachella, Outkast fans will most likely be hoping for a more lively and well meshed performance from the duo. According to The Guardian's review of the Coachella performance, the collaboration seemed as though it was " two solo shows attempting awkwardly to become one, with Big Boi doing the bulk of the heavy lifting". The hope for the group is that they can get their old vibe and well thought out performances back in play at this homecoming, which has left the legacy that fans hold so near and dear to them. As the group gets back to their roots hopefully this will inflict some of their older style mixed in with a fresh spin on what we've been missing for 12 years.

“It’s only right that we give the hometown what we’ve been giving the rest of the world, Atliens in ATL, homecoming!” Big Boi said in a statement. Hopefully this will be a bigger and better version of what we've seen previously.
