Dave Chappelle 'Seven Years Late For Work.'

Remember when Dave Chappelle decided to walk away from his Comedy Central hit show Chappelle's Show in 2005? Yes, it broke all of our hearts but now he has come back to explain his reasons for leaving to David Letterman and all of us on Late Show.

In 2004 Comedy Central promised Chappelle $50 million to do two more seasons of Chappelle's Show but the comedian disappeared the following year. The network decided to air the three episodes of the show they did have even though Chappelle was no longer there.

“Technically, I never quit. I’m seven years late for work,” Chappelle said in a joke. Does that mean that the comedian could be coming back with a show or something along those lines? I sure hope so and I'm sure everyone else would love to see that too. He left us all hanging when he walked out on Chappelle's Show. At that point he was also climbing to the top as a comedian, if not at the top already.

When Letterman touched on the subject of compensation and Chappelle's leave of absence Chappelle carefully chose his words saying, “There’s not too many people that don’t think I’m crazy.” I just hope he is still as funny as he was in 2004.

Chappelle is making the talk show rounds here in NYC to promote his shows at Radio City Music Hall where he will be joined by The Roots. There are still tickets available for
