Watch: 'Stood a Chance' by Taking Back Sunday

by Photo of Ross Bernhardt

The rockers new album ‘Happiness Is’ comes out March 18th and the band is prepping a big tour.

Taking Back Sunday is one of those groups that will eternally be popular among adolescents. I know that when I was right in the early stages of high school, TBS was a band I gravitated to, and it seems like even ten years later, kids that are just reaching that stage are discovering the band's material too. I remember walking around during the summer of 2012 near one of NYC's piers where I saw a group of high schoolers with an acoustic guitar singing stuff from Tell All Your Friends, the group's 2002 album.

But it's not all about the past music. Taking Back Sunday is still putting out new material, and it's the kind of music that can still bring out the inner teenage rebellion in all of us. After premiering the first single off their new album Happiness Is, "Flicker, Fade," the group is back with the music video for their second single "Stood A Chance." It contains the trademark whacked out lyrics you can expect from the band, and it's all packaged around cheery-sounding guitar lines/riffs and an even cheerier-looking video. Fast smash cuts to cute animals, cute women, boxers, archers, balloons, cowgirls, more cute animals and even a stuffed fox give the video a quick pace. Even 12 years later, there's still a playfulness here punctuating everything, which is refreshing to hear. Check out the video above:

Taking Back Sunday is getting ready to embark on a massive co-headlining tour with The Used in an effort to bring all of the millenials out of hiding and to their shows. Plenty of these dates are already sold out, like all three NYC shows that included an extra added on because of overwhelming demand. Both groups are touring in support of new albums, so expect a healthy dose of new and old at these shows.
