The Beatles And Other Artists To Help Typhoon Haiyan Victims

Dozens of musical icons are doing something incredible for the victims of Typhoon Haiyan, which recently hit Philippines and killed more than 5000 people.

Artists ranging from The Beatles to Eminem have complied 39 tracks in the album, Songs for the Philippines and plan to donate the profits to the Philippine Red Cross.

The album is now available on iTunes and all streaming proceeds from the release will also go toward relief efforts. Apart from the artists involved in this album, many others have been kind as well. The members of Journey donated $350,000, which would feed about 1.4 million people affected by the superstorm. Similarly, David Byrne of Talking Heads held a benefit concert for the cause as well earlier this week at Terminal 5.

We're impressed by how thoughtful the music industry can be. It can often be a place of selfish behavior and shallowness, but Uncle Ben was right when he said this to Peter Parker - "With great power, comes great responsibility."
