Atlanta Falcons Come To An Agreement With Matt Ryan

In this article…

Today it was announced that Atlanta Falcons starting quarterback Matt Ryan signed a 5-year $103.75 million dollar deal.

Ryan was selected third overall in the 2008 draft and has become a major part of the Falcons' offensive success. He had his best season last season throwing for 4,719 yards with 32 touchdowns and only 4 interceptions. Prior to Ryan's arrival, the Falcons had never had back-to-back winning seasons - they now have five in a row.

Though there was a year left on his rookie contract, the Falcons did not hesitate to offer their star quarterback a new deal to lock him in place for the long term.

In the deal, Ryan will be receiving $59 million guaranteed and will make over $63 million dollars in the first three years of the contract. The 28-year-old quarterback will make $20.75 million dollars a year.

Last season the Falcons made it to the NFC Championships before narrowly losing to the San Francisco 49ers, however the future looks bright for the Falcons under Ryan. It's no surprise they want to keep him around for as long as they possibly can.
