With Game 1 of the Stanley Cup finals happening tonight, let’s take a look at the two teams.

NHL Stanley Cup Preview: Game 1

The Stanley Cup finals commence tonight with two of hockey's "Original Six" battling it out for the chance to win the famed Stanley Cup. Tonight at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois, the Chicago Blackhawks and the Boston Bruins are set to begin the homestretch of the final leg of their quest.

This is the first time either team has had the opportunity to face the other. Due to the shortened season, teams from the Eastern and Western conferences were only eligible to face teams in their respective conferences. Being this will be the first time the Blackhawks and Bruins will play this season, it might have an effect on the way they play, and, more importantly, the formation of the lines.

The Blackhawks, who last won the cup in 2010, already showed changes in their lineup during a practice skate. Jonathan Toews was paired with Marian Hossa and Patrick Sharp; Patrick Kane centered Michal Handzus and Bryan Bickell; Dave Bolland skated with Andrew Shaw and Brandon Saad; Brandon Bollig was with Marcus Kruger and Michael Frolik. In addition to these line changes, Viktor Stalberg sat out during the line rushes, possibly meaning he will sit out during game one in the series. In the net for the Blackhawks will be Corey Crawford.

The Bruins, on the other hand, have not made any line changes since their game four victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins. Rask will remain in the net and all lines will remain the same. It simply remains to be seen how the Bruins will use powerhouses such as Zdeno Chara and Andrew Ference, but it also shows just how confident the Bruins heading into this series.

Expect the Chicago Blackhawks to come out the victors of tonights game. Coming off an extremely successful season, the Blackhawks have the momentum of their past victories (plus home ice) to provide them with the fuel to win. In addition to their epic season, the Blackhawks have also been analyzing the Bruins lineup and adjusting their own lines accordingly. With Crawford in the net and a skillful team in front of him, the Bruins will have a hard task in defeating the Blackhawks tonight.

My prediction? Blackhawks - 1, Bruins - 0.

This game is guaranteed to be a great one with each team hungry for another taste of the Stanley Cup. Expect great quality hockey to be played in these next few game.
