20 Artists You Should See at Governors Ball 2013

Governors Ball has one of the best line up's in music festivals this year. With big headliner's such as Kanye West, Kings of Leon, Guns N Roses, and of course Nas it's hard to focus on the other performers. There will be four stages filled with great acts over the last year in music. Governors Ball NYC, You're Doing Great, Honda, Skyy Vodka Tent will be the stages showcasing these amazing talents.

Some of these artists you should check out are The XX, Poliça, Portugal. The Man, Haim, and Alt-J.  If you aren't familiar with The XX by now, get familiar. Jamie XX lays down the beats, and enchants you with the sound of the steel drums. Romi and Oliver provide the haunting vocals. Poliça was a band that Jay-Z posted on his blog last year. They are an American indie rock band with a fusion of R&B. Channy will captivate you with her voice and vibes. She is a great performer live.

Portugal. The Man is a progressive rock band based out in Oregon, but originally from Alaska. Interesting place of origin. They have released six studio albums and three E.Ps since they formed in 2005. Their new record is set to drop June 4, 2013, and is produced by Danger Mouse. Their sound is continuously changing, and I am sure it will be an absolute pleasure to watch them perform this weekend.

HAIM are a trio of sisters from Los Angeles. The girls have been on a steady rise the last year, dropping hits, and having them remixed. If there is one group that you need to see perform live once in your life, Haim has got to be on your list. The girls are rocking, loud, and crowd pleasing live. Their sound is impeccable, and doesn't stray from their studio sound. In fact, they sound better live. They have a folksy, R&B, rock sound to them. Their latest single "Falling" has been a major hit, and has had a couple of remixes done to it.

After their debut album After The Wave Alt-J quickly gathered the attention of many listeners. They have had an epic year in the music world. Their single "Fitzpleasure" has been used on a commercial for Windows. They are another great band to keep an eye on, and another band you need to see live. They create a full balance of acoustic sounds, and rocking guitar riffs. They also provide a little bit of sexiness, especially with the song "Tesselate."

You can listen to a little sample of the mentioned artists above below. Along with them are a couple more artists you should definitely check out this weekend at Governors Ball.
