Atlas Genius Releases Debut Album 'When It Was Now'

When I first heard the song “Trojans” by Atlas Genius in the car a couple summers ago, I knew this was a band to keep my eyes (and ears) on. “Trojans” has this incredibly slick sound that hooks you right in and doesn't really let go. It's the perfect introductory track for a band like Atlas Genius, who just released their debut full-length album When It Was Now yesterday.

The full-length includes “Trojans” and all of the tracks from last year's Through The Glass EP like “Symptoms” which is currently the iTunes Single of the Week. Songs like “If So,” which is featured on the video game FIFA 13 (in my opinion, FIFA games feature some of the best soundtracks for video games around) and was getting praised by Rolling Stone for its solid sound.

Hailing from Adelaide, Australia, Atlas Genius consists of brothers Keith Jeffrey, Michael Jeffrey, and Steven Jeffrey along with Darren Sell on the keyboards. Their music kind of reminds me of another foreign band, Phoenix, but just a bit more reserved in style and tone.

Tonight, the band will be playing their sold-out record release show at Music Hall of Williamsburg with opener Gospels, and then they will embark on a tour with Imagine Dragons that will take them to and beyond their SXSW gigs in March. Once the calendar turns to late April, Atlas Genius will begin a headlining tour across North America that will last into June. These guys are certainly keeping busy, and putting yourself out there so much is a sure-fire way to increase your fan base. Check out the full and extensive list of tour dates below:
