This year’s big winner was Once, taking home a respectable 8 Tony Awards.

Tony Awards 2012 Results

Last night was the 66th Annual Tony Awards, where Once proved to be more powerful a force than I had anticipated.

On Friday, I tried my hand at predicting this year's Tony Award winners. Something went horribly awry in my delicate selection process, and I only matched up 3 winners out of the 10 categories I looked into.  But 30% is honorable, and I regret nothing.

The night of a thousand costume changes began with the song "Hello" from last year's musical juggernaut The Book of Mormon, and was sprinkled with excerpts from other hit musicals and plays.  The night's big winners were Once (8 awards including Best Musical, Best Direction of a Musical, and Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical) and Peter and the Starcatcher (5 awards including Best Scenic Design of a Play, Best Lighting Design of a Play, and Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role in a Play).

The entire evening was full of whimsy, music, humor and drama; I could ask for nothing better in a Tony Awards ceremony.

Three-time host Neil Patrick Harris did his job well, and reminded us all that "if life were more like theater, life wouldn't suck so much."

Let CHARGED.fm make life more like theater by getting you tickets to Tony Award-winning productions this summer.
