Inaugural Firefly Music Festival Boasts Impressive Lineup

Maybe you were never compelled to visit Delaware in the past, but this summer's Firefly Music Festival in Dover, Delaware, might just make you get in your car and head to the first state.  Jack White, The Black Keys, and The Killers headline an impressive lineup of artists spanning a wide variety of musical genres that will throw down for three days in July.  Via The Cape Gazette:

The wait is finally over, and music lovers across Delaware are in a state of wonderment.

For the first time in its history, Delaware will play host to a major weekend-long extravaganza, The Firefly Music Festival, which promises to bring a lineup of epic proportions to The Woodlands at Dover International Speedway the weekend of July 20-22. [...]

"Events like this music festival will put Delaware on the music map and bring folks from all over the area to Dover," said Sen. Tom Carper, who promoted concerts while he was a student at Ohio State. "I was excited to learn about this festival because it will not only provide the First State with an economic boost, but it will bring great musical acts here as well."

Don't expect the Firefly Music Festival to be run of the mill. The large-scale festival is being produced by Chicago-based Red Frog Events, and promoters are aiming high. "Glamping" - an upscale version of camping - will be offered on-site; all campers need do is show up with suitcases to find a luxurious canvas tent complete with beds, linens, access to showers, late night snacks and even a breakfast buffet.

Over 40 acts are set to take the stage over the three days, including Death Cab For Cutie, Cake, Lupe Fiasco, John Legend, Ra Ra Riot, Passion Pit, Girl Talk, Chiddy Bang, and several smaller acts that have previously been profiled here like Cults and Walk the Moon.  For a first-time festival, they got some pretty talented groups, and the experiential part of the weekend seems progressive enough to catch on.  Sounds like a great event to me, especially if I get to show off my "glamping" skills.  For more info on the lineup and the festival, visit the website here.
