Terry Crews Channels His Inner Vanessa Carlton on 'Lip Sync Battle'

Crews recreated his iconic ‘White Chicks’ scene and threw in a bit of ribbon dancing.

In this article…

Terry Crews is an American treasure, and if you don't agree, maybe you'll start singing a different tune after watching his appearance on Spike TV's Lip Sync Battle. Crews appeared last night and took on Mike Tyson, and he stole the show with his performance of Vanessa Carlton's "A Thousand Miles."

Crews went all out here and totally channeled his inner feminine beauty. There was the lovely piano "solo" at the beginning, the ballerinas with violins, the pandering to the crowd by showing off his incredible physique and his delicate dance moves. But he sealed the deal when he busted out some ribbons and proceeded to dance and flutter on stage with them. It was simply marvelous.

Those who know Crews' filmography will recognize that he has a history with this particular song. In the 2004 comedy White Chicks, Crews serenaded Marlon Wayans' Tiffany with the song in an effort to seduce her. Thankfully, we got to realize a nearly full version of Crews performing it, and it only took 11 years to happen!

I recommend skipping Mike Tyson's performance in the top video, since I think he missed the memo that requires contestants to actually lip sync. His performance was better suited to something like "Uncomfortable Gyrating Dance Battle," and I think Tyson would still lose.

But to again hammer home the point: Terry Crews is amazing. From Brooklyn Nine-Nine to his performance in the Old Spice commercials to everything else, we should all take time to appreciate just how awesome this gentle giant of a man is.
