J. Cole Unleashes New Video for 'G.O.M.D.'

In this article…

In recent news, J. Cole has announced that his next single off his latest album, 2014 Forest Hills Drive, will be “Wet Dreamz.” But on Mar. 23, he released the video for his joint, “G.O.M.D.” (also off 2014 FHD).

In the track, “G.O.M.D.,” J. Cole samples Lil’ Jon ’s “Get Low” and it's about his change from being in Hollywood. For people who don’t “like” the new Cole, a.k.a. “Hollywood Cole” can simply, "get off his d—k," as the title of the song implies. Cole also goes through an existential crisis in which he decides he actually misses the old version of himself: " Man f—k them n—as I come home and I don'ttell nobody/They gettin’ temporary dough and I don't tell nobody/Lord wil you tell me if I changed, I won’t tell nobody/I wanna go back to Jermaine and I won’t tell nobody."

Now, the video of the song takes a completely different turn. In the clip, J. Cole is a house slave, who doesn’t seemed to be well-liked amongst the plantation slaves too much, until he sparks a rebellion. He does this by slyly stealing the keys of his owner  and then steals his “masters” guns and ammunition. He supplies these guns to the plantation slaves, and then ties up the owners. The video ends with all the slaves dancing around a bonfire, celebrating their freedom.

In other recent news, J. Cole and his Dreamville crew closed down SXSW this weekend, performing songs off of 2014 Forest Hills Drive, and even songs off of his second mixtape, (first as a signed artist) Friday Night Lights.

J. Cole is now back on tour for his first set of FHD Tour. Tickets for FHD tour are on sale now!
