Despite winning just 38 games, the Atlanta Hawks still managed to make the playoffs for the 7th consecutive year. For the fourth time in those seven appearance the Hawks were bounced in the first round in 2014 losing in seven exciting games to the Indiana Pacers. Despite leading the series 3-2 after a hard fought 107-97 road victory in Indy, the Hawks couldn’t close the door on the series as Paul George’s game high 30 points in Game 7 ended Atlanta’s season.
Second-year head coach Mike Budenholzer leads a strong core of players led by point guard Jeff Teague and veteran do-it-all man Paul Milsap back into the mix in a very up in the air Eastern Conference. The Hawks welcome back power forward Al Horford who missed the final 53 games and post season with a right pectoral injury. Horford’s return should mark a big improvement up front for the Hawks and a push for a higher seed come playoff time.
