Born in Trinidad and Tobago, alt rock siren Younglao has been around, singing soca at home, emceeing in New York, studying jazz in DC, and fronting a hardcore band in Philly. Her multicultural adventures and encounters have enriched her musical experience, turning her into the versatile, confident performer she is today, complete with an alternative rock and roll edge and brazen vocals.

BAMcafé Live features a diverse mix of free live music and performance in BAM's Lepercq Space, a lounge and bar space in the Peter Jay Sharp Building. Since 1999 BAMcafé Live has served as a launch pad for a whole galaxy of new stars, such as Stew, Antibalas, Slow Six, Carl Hancock Rux, Morley, Eisa Davis, Travis Sullivan’s Bjorkestra, ETHEL, Haale, Daniel Bernard Roumain (DBR), Sekou Sundiata, Earl Greyhound, Licorice, and many others. BAMcafé Live has also been an intimate performance home for international renowned performers like Marshall Crenshaw, Vernon Reid, Grady Tate, Fishbone’s Angelo Moore aka Dr. Madd Vibe, Gary Lucas, Don Byron, Marc Ribot, Corey Glover, Joe Bataan, Jeffrey Gaines, TV On The Radio’s Kyp Malone, and more. Recent/upcoming artists include Budos Band, Wax Poetic, The Color Purple’s Elisabeth Withers, Judah Tribe, Elizabeth & The Catapult, Kirsten Price, Dragons of Zynth, Leni Stern, Erin and Her Cello, Taylor McFerrin, Japanther, King Britt, and Bear In Heaven.
