Haynesworth’s career has quickly gone downhill since signing that huge contract.

Patriots Release Albert Haynesworth

SB Nation:

The Albert Haynesworth era is over with the New England Patriots. The team released the veteran defensive tackle on Tuesday,  the Boston Herald reports. Haynesworth signed with the Patriots shortly after the lockout ended but hardly made an impact in his short time in New England.

The timing of the release is interesting because Haynesworth had an animated conversation with defensive line coach Pepper Johnson last Sunday.

Haynesworth signed a huge 7-year, $100 million contract with the Redskins in 2009. He failed multiple conditioning tests in training camp in 2010, and was eventually traded to the Patriots for a 2013 5th round pick.

Cutting the veteran defensive tackle now helps the Patriots financially

Let's also not forget that when Haynesworth was with the Titans, he brutally stomped on Cowboys lineman Andre Gurode.

The Patriots other veteran acquisition has not worked out either; Chad Ochocinco has nine receptions for 136 yards and no touchdowns in eight games this year.
