New England Patriots vs. New York Giants
Performing now!
Although I wasn't alive when it happened, Game 6 of the 1986 World Series will always be fresh in my mind. After all, it's the greatest moment in Mets history for a franchise with a limited supply of such events.
I've been to every Mets home playoff game since 1990 (or 1999, no difference) and countless great regular season matchups.
I saw Todd Pratt's walk off home run.
I was in the building for the greatest game I've ever seen, when Robin Ventura hit his Grand Slam Single.
I witnessed the Subway Series games at Shea. I'd like to take this opportunity to acknowledge that I've seen the Yankees win the World Series live three times (1996, 1999, and 2000).
And of course, I was present for the 2006 playoff run, which Carlos Beltran ended in dramatic, heartbreaking fashion.
But obviously, none of these games can compare to the greatest World Series comeback of all time and subsequent Game 7 victory.
I certainly don't feel this way while I'm watching the games, but it's alright that I haven't seen my team win the World Series. It will happen in my lifetime (pretty sure about that). And watching the above clip (over and over) makes me realize that astonishing, near impossible, flat-out fantastic moments have, and will continue to happen. They may be few and far between for some of us, but isn't that why sports are so great? You're along for the ride, witnessing the game-winning hits, awful signings, and everything in between, waiting for it to all come together. I'm assuming that when it happens, it makes it all worth it.
For now, I'll have to live with Endy Chavez's catch. It wasn't the ultimate, but it's still pretty damn good.
