Director Tom Hooper is set to Transform Les Mis on to the Big Screen

In this article…

Filming is set to begin in 2012 for Tom Hooper's film adaptation of the much loved musical, Les Miserables. Hugh Jackman is already locked in to the role of Jean Valijean, having already won a Tony award for his performance in the musical The Boy From Oz. Les Mis, however, will be his first cinematic musical production.
Rumoured to be joining Jackman is fellow Aussie Russell Crowe, who would supposedly like to fill the role of Inspector Javert. Crowe has appeared in a few stage plays over his acting career, and has singing experience on account of his band, 30 Odd Foot of Grunts. However, the likelihood of this partnership is still unknown, as Hooper has yet to announce who he would favour for the role of Javert.
Tom Hooper is perhaps most famously known for directing The King's Speech, which won the academy award for best picture in 2010. Les Miserables continues to run as one of the most popular musicals, worldwide. For tickets to a live performance, visit charged.fm!
