Chris Brown and Tyga's 'Fan Of A Fan The Album' Is Finally Released and it Delivers

After four long years, Chris Brown and Tyga finally released their highly-anticipated mixtape-turned-album Fan Of A Fan The Album.

Chris Brown and Tyga teamed up for the Fan of a Fan mixtape back in the summer of 2010 and promised fans a Fan of a Fan 2 soon after (which ended up becoming an album to be released four years later).

The sound of the album is just as impressive as the mixtape was, although they definitely have two completely different vibes.

The energy present in the album is extremely vibrant (similar to the colors on the cover of the album); the album starts off with the song, “Westside,” which is highly representative of the sound throughout the album as well as of the relationship the two artists share (they both live in L.A., and Tyga is a California-based rapper). The song starts off with Tyga spitting his bars, rapping mostly on potential sexual encounters along with the money-party-girls topic, with Chris Brown singing the chorus and bridge and rapping about the same idea.

Most of the songs on the album are actually quite similar in subject to the intro song, but with a different sound, musically and lyrically. The new release is filled with diversity by featuring different artists.

The next song on the album, “Nothin’ Like Me,” featuring Ty Dolla $ign, is more about stuntin’ on some girl’s ex, while simultaneously trying to get with the girl, by convincing her that they’re better than her ex. The song itself has a much more “quiet” sound, although it is still definitely a club song.

The entire album is basically directed towards their female fans; Chris and Tyga make a point to show their thanks to their female fans by singing and rapping about "pleasing" women.

The next song on the album is the single, “Ayo,” which is just a really positive, lively track with great energy. The song is produced by Nic Nac who produced Chris Brown’s “Loyal” off of his album, X .

Many tracks on the mixtape are actually produced by Nic Nac as well, these tracks include: “I Bet” ft. 50 Cent and “Bitches and Marijuana” ft. Schoolboy Q.

The song, “Girl You Loud” is most definitely a baby making song; it’s quite slow and soft sounding. It was produced by the illustrious Drumma Boy. Other notable slow and soft sounding, but not necessarily “love-making” songs on the album are “Remember Me,” “Lights Out” featuring Fat Trel, “Better,” and “Bunkin’” featuring T.I. and Jay 305, and “Wrong in the Right Way.” These aren’t club-banger songs, as most of the other tracks on the album are.

The other club joints on the album are definitely “Real One” featuring Boosie Badazz, “She Goin’ Up,” and "D.G.I.F.U" ft. Pusha T. These three songs (along with the others listed above) are definitely upbeat and perfect for the dance floor.

The second to last song on the album, “It’s Yo Shit” featuring Wale has a much more pop-based vibe to it, especially compared to the other hip-hop/r&b sounding songs.

The album ends with the song, “Banjo,” a DJ Mustard produced song; which automatically registers it as a club-banger. The song is more of a rap song, especially with Chris Brown’s bars.

The album as a whole is a well put together disc and was most definitely worth the wait (and it’s almost as good as the mixtape from 2010). It’s undeniable that Chris Brown and Tyga make great team.

The album definitely deserves 4/4.5 out of 5 thunder bolts from CHARGED.fm.
