Rangers bounce back after difficult loss on Sunday with a 5 goal shut out against the NHL’s hottest team

Rangers Bounce Back with Big 5-0 Win Over the Pittsburgh Penguins

The Rangers got back to their winning ways after a tough 3-1 loss at home to the Edmonton Oilers. The New York Rangers faced off at the Garden against the Pittsburgh Penguins in need of a bounce-back game. The Penguins entered last night as the NHL’s hottest team, winning seven straight games. The Rangers entered the game after a lackluster loss to one of the leagues worst teams.

It was obvious the Rangers played with far more focused than on Sunday evening. They were skating quick, working hard on the boards, and getting pucks and players in front of the net, making it difficult for Penguins goalie Marc-Andre Fleury to see the puck. Despite their seven-game winning streak, the Penguins on this night were outmatched. The Rangers cruised to a 5-0 win.

The three stars of the game earned their evening awards in front of an ecstatic Madison Square Garden crowd. Henrik Lundqvist was exceptional; he faced 33 shots and saved them all. Rick Nash continues his resurgence this season with another three-point evening: one goal and two assists. Derek Stepan, who has returned from injury, earned the third star of the evening with two assists. Rangers fans are looking forward to having Stepan back. He brings a steadier face off circle presence and more balance to an injury-riddled Rangers lineup.
