Knotfest 2014’s Main Stage kicked so much butt on day one!

Knotfest 2014: Main Stage 001 – Slipknot, Black Label Society, Anthrax and Hatebreed

In the hills of San Bernadino California, hell on earth and heaven to metal fans was brewing. Knotfest 2014 was one to remember especially on the Main Stage!

Knotfest pioneers Slipknot provided pure chaos both on and offstage especially since they kicked off their set with “People=Shit.” They also performed “Eeyore” for the first time in six years and “Three Nil” for the first time since 2005.

Despite cranking out favorites, “Wait and Bleed,” “Dead Memories,” and “Before I Forget” they also had live premieres of new tracks “The Negative One” and “Custer.”

With complete mayhem onstage, offstage, camera men, security guards, photographers and everyone in the crowd were completely losing their s—t. The energy just magnified as the first night ended with “Spit It Out” and “Surfacing.”

We’re pretty sure Danzig played although we have no photographic evidence of it. (Photographers weren’t allowed to shoot his set). But in our personal opinion Anthrax put on such a good show they would have been more appropriate for direct support.

Legendary thrash band Anthrax performed earlier in the night and they always bring the heat when they hit the stage. They performed a killer set featuring “Indians,” “Caught in a Mosh,” “I Am the Law” and “Antisocial.” Our only complaint is that their performance was far too short.

Zakk Wylde and the rest of Black Label Society gave one of the loudest performances of the day. The Doom Crew was in full swing and fans shouted out the anthems “Funeral Bell,” “Suicide Messiah,” “Conrete Jungle,” “Stillborn” and more.

Hardcore band Hatebreed kicked things off on the main stage with an incredibly forceful performance. When they began their set with “Everyone Bleeds Now” we knew it was going to be one hell of a night.  They unleashed infectious tunes one after the other, “Live For This,” “In Ashes They Shall Reap,” “This Is Now,” “I Will Be Heard.” They completely destroyed main stage, so it’s appropriate that they ended their set with “Destroy Everything.”

We’re still happily cleaning the dirt off our boots and dealing with the ringing in our ears. Check out our full photo gallery of Main Stage 001 on the first day below and stay tuned for our coverage of Day 2.
