Watch Travis Ishikawa's Walk-Off, Pennant-Winning Home Run in GIF Form

Last night, Travis Ishikawa hit his fourth home run of the season. That home run happened to come in the bottom of the ninth inning, and it broke a 3-3 tie between the San Francisco Giants and St. Louis Cardinals. That home run sent the Giants back to the World Series for the third time in five seasons. And it all came from a player who was waived by the Pittsburgh Pirates earlier this year.

The Giants came back from a 3-2 deficit in the eighth inning to top the Cardinals 6-3 on the power of Ishikawa's three-run blast. St. Louis' bullpen wasted a fine outing from starter Adam Wainwright. Pat Neshek gave up a game-tying solo home run to pinch-hitter Michael Morse in the bottom of the eighth. Starter Michael Wacha gave up the home run in relief with one out. Any loss that ends your season stings, but this one really has to hurt for St. Louis. They were able to get to Giants ace Madison Bumgarner early to secure a lead that Wainwright preserved. The bullpen couldn't hold, and now the Cardinals are eliminated.

All walk-off home runs are awesome, and Ishikawa's was no different. There was a little drama to it as it just cleared the high right field wall at AT&T Park (but either way the extra-base hit would have won the game). The crowd went wild, and obviously the players met Ishikawa at home plate with a joyous celebration. It's just the latest in a long line of exciting and dramatic late-inning finishes during the 2014 MLB Playoffs. Relive the best parts of the Ishikawa home run in GIF form below:

This isn't the first time that a player has sent the Giants to the World Series with a home run. Over 50 years ago, Bobby Thompson hit the "Shot Heard 'Round the World" that sent the then New York Giants to the World Series over the then Brooklyn Dodgers. MLB made a video that dubs Ishikawa's home run with one of the most famous calls in sports history. Two words: goose bumps. Check out the clip at SB Nation.

Now the World Series is set. Tuesday, the Giants will take on the surprising Kansas City Royals in Game 1. I don't think anyone really knows what to expect with this matchup, but the intrigue will only make the game more exciting.
