Jameis WInston Suspended For First Half vs. Clemson

Editor's Note: Just the latest in a string of questionable decisions and actions from Florida State's quarterback, but a tougher stance could have been made if Jimbo Fisher really wanted to send a message.

ESPN’s College GameDay bus rolls down to Tallahassee this weekend for Saturday’s big matchup between the top-ranked Florida State Seminoles and the Clemson Tigers. In the 2013 matchup, FSU's Jameis Winston played all four quarters. This season, Winston is limited to only the second half after yelling an obscene phrase in Florida State’s student union.

Head coach Jimbo Fisher suspended Winston for the first half of Saturday's game after he climbed on top of a table and shouted out "F--k her right in the p---y", an Internet meme that is inexplicably gaining popularity. Florida State will be going with red shirt sophomore Sean McGuire for the first half versus Clemson.

Last year, number 5 Florida State traveled to number 3 Clemson in a matchup that had analysts essentially flipping a coin to decide a winner. It was anything but close, as Florida State handled Clemson in a 51-14 victory on Clemson’s home field.

In the 2014 edition, Clemson are now the away team. Clemson are ranked 22 in the nation, whereas Florida State are ranked number one. With Winston suspended for the first half of the game, Florida State will be hoping the inexperienced McGuire will be able to make the necessary plays to keep Florida State in the game until Winston takes the field in the second half.

Heading into the matchup, it still seems as if Florida State will remain number 1 in the country after Saturdays matchup. Clemson will have to attack early and often and build up a lead if they want to have a shot at victory in Tallahassee this Saturday.
