Richmond Virginia Artists Dave Watkins, Night Idea and Dumb Waiter Invade Brooklyn

In this article…

Known for heavier bands such as Gwar and Lamb of God, Virginia’s music scene is eclectic and unlike any other.  Brooklyn got a taste of a few talented Richmond artists as they performed right in the CHARGED.fm office for three CHARGED.fm LIVE sessions.

The day began with musician, composer, performer, engineer, designer and carpenter extraordinaire Dave Watkins. His unique sound and limitless guitar skills echoed as he performed outside on a deck with the New York City skyline backing him.

Up next were Night Idea who rocked, to say the least. Their technical style and infectious grooves will create an earworm and their catchy songs are bound to get stuck in your head. These talented musicians performed the lead track "Losing the Magic of Youth" off of their disc Paths.

Last but certainly not least were instrumental outfit Dumb Waiter who describe their sound as math rock, avante-garde, pop, noise. No matter how many fancy words or sub-genres you want to get into, the bottom line is that their sound works. As a band they are solid and loud, their fusion of heavy rock, jazz and funk is simply undeniable.
