Jack White Covers Jay-Z's '99 Problems' at Forecastle Festival

by Photo of Theodore Liggians

Saturday night White performed ’99 Problems’ as a part of his encore.

We have never seen a collab from Jack White and Jay Z, and one almost happened back in the day, but who knows what could happen. Saturday White covered Jay Z's 2003 hit "99 Problems" as an encore at The Forecastle Festival in Louisville.

The rocker kicked off his encore with "Icky Thump" from The White Stripes then followed it with the screamed lyrics of "99 Problems". White put his own spin on the hit but no one seemed to have a "problem" with it. The cover begins at the 2:55 mark of the video:

White has been covering a number of artists' songs recently so it should not have been a surprise that he covered another. At a show in Dublin he covered Kanye West's "Black Skinhead" and last month he covered Metallica's "Enter Sandman" at Glastonbury. We can only imagine what songs he might cover at the Newport Folk Festival this weekend.
