Glastonbury 2014 Highlights

The pinnacle of the British festival season has finally come and gone but not without a bang. Glastonbury festival 2014 showed promise from the start and has proven itself, once again, to be the ultimate UK-based music festival.

This years festival lineup certainly held some ultimatum decisions on who to watch, with Skrillex, Arcade Fire and Kaiser Chiefs performing at the 10pm sets on Friday night and Metallica, Mogwai and MGMT similarly taking the late night spots on Saturday across the festival; choosing who to watch would have been more than difficult.

Metallica opened their headlining set with a video response to protests against the metal band performing at the festival. The 8-minute long video, that you can view below, featured a rather British fox hunt with a hilariously ironic ending.

Another performance that many were unaware would cause a stir was Dolly Parton's Sunday afternoon set. Festival-goers were able to revel in the country-singer's set as the sun put his hat on for the final day. Despite accusations that the Tennessee-born songstress was lip-syncing, her album sales have received a pleasant boost from her performance with her current album, Blue Smoke, reaching number six, becoming the highest-charting album of her career in the UK.

The mud and rain didn't stop festival enthusiasts from concluding their epic weekend with a performance from Kasabian, who were literally joined by tens of thousands of viewers on the Pyramid Stage Sunday night.

The Somerset-based festival hosted to many great performers, British and American alike. Some of the top acts from the weekend were Lily Allen, Lana Del Rey, Jack White, Ed Sheeran, Black Keys, Pixies and many, many more. There was a true variety of rock styles and other genres at this years festival but there are already mentions in circulation of an already booked headliner for next year.

In all, Glastonbury 2014 was another successful year of not just music but classic festival fashion, featuring hundreds of Hunter wellies and flower power headbands. Glastonbury will never cease to be the top UK festival, and one of the most desired festivals to attend across the World.
