Cover of the Week: Arctic Monkeys 'Feels Like We Only Go Backwards'

Arctic Monkeys' lead vocalist Alex Turner turned to covers earlier this week (May 8), taking on Tame Impala's "Feels Like We Only Go Backwards." The track, off of 2012's Lonerism, is a dizzying psychedelic rock anthem, and when sung acoustically by Turner, the song takes on a rich and mellow tone.

Even though AM's drummer Matt Helders was in the house, the cover only features Turner strumming an acoustic guitar, which is a shame because the track's drumming is one of it's stand-out features. Despite this, it is a solid cover with much to offer.

The cover came about on Triple J, an Australian radio station that features a segment called "Like a Version." If this peaks your interest, "Like a Version" has also featured two other bands covering Arctic Monkeys' tracks from off of AM: CHVRCHES covering "Do I Wanna Know?" and Jagwar Ma covering "Why'd You Only Call Me When You're High?".

In addition to Arctic Monkeys showing support for Tame Impala, the latter will be supporting Arctic Monkeys for two shows at London's Finsbury Park later this month. The Arctic Monkeys will be heading to Lollapalooza this August as one of the main acts. Check out the cover below
