Newport Folk Festival Lineup Watch: The Devil Makes Three

The Newport Folk Festival keeps coming with the big guns for their 2014 lineup. Last week the rolling announcement revealed some big names and the same held true for the start of this week. Let's take a look at who will be heading to Newport this Summer.

Band of Horses

One of the best bands out there right now will be making their Newport debut In July. It's hard to believe that Band of Horses hasn't been to this festival yet, considering how long they have been around and how good their music is. That doesn't matter because they will finally be making their way to Rhode Island. Ben Bridwell and company haven't put out any new music since 2012's Mirage Rock, so maybe they will have something new to share at Newport. Even if they don't, these guys still put on a hell of a show and will have everyone singing along on Friday to kickstart the festival.

The Devil Makes Three

This trio has been to Newport before and they make a welcome addition this year. The Americana veterans will also be appearing on Friday, joining BoH and the previously announced Jenny Lewis and Death Vessel. The Devil Makes Three doesn't fit any one convention or genre, but it is almost better to use adjectives and adverbs to describe their music. Rip-roaring. Energetic. Gritty. Harmonic. Fun. It's designed to make you move and get you going, and you better believe that's what it accomplishes. Welcome back to the festival Pete Bernhard, Lucia Turino and Cooper McBean.

The Oh Hello's

Coming all the way from San Marcos, Texas, The Oh Hello's are Tyler and Maggie Heath, but they are so much more than that. This band rolls deep. Just look at how many people are in this photo. That just looks like a good time waiting to happen. Tyler and Maggie both have some amazing voices and will be bringing some sweet songs with them to a Saturday lineup that is starting to look very nice indeed.
