In case you were still unaware, Valentine's Day is this Friday. In a city as big as New York City, there are almost infinite options for new and old couples alike. But for those people looking for a sonic adventure (and not a Netflix binge of House of Cards), may I suggest a trip to the Best Buy Theater to see ODESZA and a packed lineup of chill electronic production?

ODESZA, the Seattle production duo made up of Harrison Mills (Catacombkid) and Clayton Knight (BeachesBeaches), have been on my radar for about a year. I don't often listen to production/producers, but when I do it sounds a lot like the stuff these guys make. It's got some serious hip-hop grooves and beats (courtesy of Catacomkid's production), but it gets seamlessly infused with luscious, dreamy melodies and samples from BeachesBeaches. It's a truly harmonious nature that is perfect for chilling out or getting turnt up, depending on how you're feeling at the time.

It's a difficult balance to strike, and these guys make it seem easy on pretty much every track (which you can download for free over at their website). The tracks off their latest EP, My Friends Never Die, take that balance and add to the intensity. 2012's Summer's Gone is terrific and mellow, but My Friends Never Die ups the ante and is club ready. The drops are hooks hit more forcefully here, like on the track "Without You" that tastefully samples Gotye's mega-hit "Somebody That I Used To Know":

Filter has called their live set "awe-inspiring," and they are openers on this bill. ODESZA joins Star Slinger and Real Magic as supporting acts for headliner Emancipator Ensemble. It's an incredible lineup pretty excellent producers. Tickets are still available, so if anyone is still scrambling for Valentine's Day plans, this is certainly worth more than a few brownie points.
