From concerts to sporting events, there’s going to be plenty to keep you occupied in NYC this week.

NYC Entertainment Guide During Super Bowl Week

The Denver Broncos and Seattle Seahawks will square off in Super Bowl XLVIII this Sunday. But that's a whole six days away. How does one kill that much time between now and the game? People are beginning to flood into New York to revel in the week-long party that is Super Bowl week. New York City is a fitting place to host all of these glamorous festivities, even with the cold and potentially snowy weather. In the city that never sleeps, there will obviously be plenty going on in addition to the Super Bowl-themed parties and happenings. We decided to narrow down the many options for you so you can maximize your time in New York City and enjoy yourself before the Big Game!

This isn't exactly entertainment, but it's equally as important if you plan on driving to the game at the end of the week. With a limit set on parking spaces, securing a spot is valuable early in the week is essential. Eliminate one logistical headache right off the bat and free up your week. Our suggestion: Meadowlands Parking, the official off-site parking for MetLife Stadium.

There is plenty of big-time sports going on in New York City this week, including one game that could serve as a warm-up to the Super Bowl experience. The Brooklyn Nets are probably the hottest team in the league right now and play host to a couple marquee match-ups this week at the Barclays Center: the division-leading Toronto Raptors tonight and Kevin Durant and the Oklahoma City Thunder Friday night.

Carmelo Anthony is turning the New York Knicks into must-see basketball right now, and the Knicks will also play host to big names. Rajon Rondo and the Boston Celtics come on Tuesday, Kyrie Irving and the Cleveland Cavaliers on Thursday night, and LeBron James and the Miami Heat on Saturday night. Madison Square Garden will definitely be buzzing for that one.

The Stadium Series also continues this week with some hockey at Yankee Stadium. The New York Rangers and New Jersey Devils squared off yesterday, and Wednesday night will see the Rangers take on the New York Islanders. Checking out a hockey game outdoors is a great way to prepare for the cold weather at the Super Bowl.

For those craving some college hoops, the St. Johns Red Storm will host the Marquette Golden Eagles in a Big East showdown on Saturday afternoon at the Garden. There's also a free game of flag football between celebrities happening that afternoon: the DirecTV Beach Bowl. If celebrities and ex-athletes playing flag football in sand is your thing,

There are plenty of great shows to choose from this week and from a wide variety of artists. Red Hot Chili Peppers will join Bruno Mars during the Super Bowl, but the night before they will be playing the Barclays Center with bands like New Politics and MSMR for WFAN's Welcome to Brooklyn.

Kendrick Lamar, Robin Thicke and Jermaine Dupri will all hit up Pier 36 for ESPN's Super Bowl Party. Getting in there likely won't be easy, especially with someone as on fire as Kendrick Lamar is right now headlining.

Janelle Monae will be performing at Hammerstein Ballroom on Saturday night as well for Hot 97s Light it Up Concert. Joining her are acts like Schoolboy Q and Just Blaze.

Band of Horses will play a show at the McKittrick Hotel on Thursday for $99 (which is a little steep, but totally worth it for a band that brings live energy like Band of Horses does).

J. Cole will hit up the Theatre at Madison Square Garden on Friday night fresh off a Grammy nomination for his album Born Sinner. For those that want to go further South than North Carolina for their hip-hop, Waka Flocka Flame and his Atlanta rhymes will be heading to B.B. King Blues Club and Grill tonight.

If you have $1500 to spare, Men's Fitness and Shape Magazine's Super Bowl Party on Friday, January 31 will feature performances by Mary J. Blige, John Legend and Marc Anthony. There will also be a fashion show featuring model Petra Nemcova and the festivities will be emceed by Jeff Ross.

The Bud Light Hotel, a floating cruise ship out on the Hudson River, will also feature several performances this week from groups like Imagine Dragons, The Roots, Run DMC, Busta Rhymes (all three of which are on the same bill) and Fall Out Boy. The shows won't actually take place on the ship, though that would be really, really cool. What is cool about these shows is that they are free.

There are some other free shows happening throughout NYC too. Paramore will be performing a free show after the completion of the DirecTV Beach Bowl at the Hudson River's Pier 40. Brooklyn Night Bazaar also showcases great free entertainment in Williamsburg on Friday and Saturday nights. Saturday will feature great local talent like Lily and the Parlour Tricks and Rocket and the Ghost.

There is no shortage of plays and shows on and off Broadway. It's a shame that Rocky isn't here yet, but Kinky Boots, Motown: The Musical!, Annie, Wicked, Jersey Boys, Once, Rock of Ages and many more will provide ample entertainment for those looking to see the bright lights of Broadway.

This list is already dragging on, but it really only scratches the surface of what's going on in New York City this week. There are parties happening all over the place for those with deep pockets and those with holes in their pockets. The city is going to be buzzing all week long, so don't miss out on all there is to offer. And try to remember that there's still a football game taking place this Sunday.
