Tina Fey to Host SNL Season Premiere

Saturday Night Live returns in a little less than three weeks, and they have lined up a pretty star-studded opening lineup of hosts and musical guests. Hosting the season premiere on September 28 will be former cast member Tina Fey. This will be her fourth time hosting, and she has turned into a very reliable host since moving on from the show to "30 Rock" and her movie career. Joining her will be Arcade Fire, the third stint as musical guest for the band.

The following week will feature probably the must-see episode of the young season: Miley Cyrus pulling double-duty as host and musical guest. I can't even begin to fathom how many twerks will be twerked on October 5.

Following Cyrus will be Bruce Willis and musical guest Katy Perry. Willis hasn't hosted since 1989, which kind of seems hard to believe, but he has the sense of humor to make hosting work.

This is a big transition year for the show, which is entering its 39th season. Gone are longtime cast members Jason Sudeikis, Fred Armisen and Bill Hader (with Seth Meyers likely soon to follow as he gets closer to taking Jimmy Fallon's 'Late Night' slot). In are five new cast members: Beck Bennett, Kyle Mooney, John Milhiser, Noël Wells and Michael Patrick O'Brien. It's the largest incoming class since Will Ferrell's opening class, but I have faith many of the current players (Bobby Moynihan, Taran Killam, Cecily Strong, etc.) and in the new blood that is coming in. Just take a look at Bennett (who you may recognize from the hilarious AT&T commercials) and Mooney in a bit from their sketch group Good Neighbor:

But most importantly, Fey starting off the season can bring a sense of stability to a show that will be experiencing some early growing pains as they adjust to the new cast. Additionally, they can rely on a stellar performance from Arcade Fire who bring the house down every time

I won tickets in the SNL lottery for opening night (just got the email last week) and can't afford to go! I entered the lottery hoping to get tickets later in the season so I could save up to go and got tickets in two weeks. So bummed. If someone wants to fly me from Cali to NY, I will give them my second ticket!
