Sharapova Rolls Into Wimbledon Finals

Maria Sharapova is starting to make it look easy.  In her quest for a second Wimbledon crown, she has only dropped one set in her six matches so far.  She won convincingly again as she defeated Sabine Lisicki 6-4, 6-3 to advance to the finals at Wimbledon.

This wasn't the easiest match for the former champion.  She was broken early by Lisicki and had to battle back to win the first set. Then she raced out to a 5-1 lead in the second set before Lisicki took two straight points in her comeback effort.  Sharapova shut the door, though, and heads into the final as the favorite over eighth-seeded Petra Kvitkova.

Sharapova is looking for her fourth Grand Slam title and her first since the 2008 Australian Open.  The former number one player in world has dealt with several injuries since 2007 that kept her from playing at the top of her game, but she seems fully recovered now and her play in the last two Grand Slams proves it.  I would be hard pressed to bet against her winning the title this year.

The men take the court tomorrow as Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray, and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga all vie for spots in the men's final.
