WATCH: "Love Illumination" - Franz Ferdinand

by Photo of Emily Maas

Check out this disorienting music video for the band’s first single off their upcoming album.

Glasgow indie rockers Franz Ferdinand released the official music video for their forthcoming album's first single, "Love Illumination."

The track, which by itself proved that the band is just as infectious as ever, now has a strange music video to accompany it. The video seems to take viewers to a Franz Ferdinand Wonderland made up of checkerboard floors, frog masks, and dizzying dancers dressed strangely.

Not to mention a drastic amount of geometric shapes everywhere.

The just under four-minute music video is a dose of trippy-meets-overwhelmingly-strange. However, it's hard to click away, which has to be a good thing.

The video was directed by Tim Saccenti, who has worked with Depeche Mode, LCD Soundsystem, Yeasayer, EL-P, Passion Pit, Jamie Lidell, among many others.

"Love Illumination" is off of Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Action, which drops August 27. Franz Ferdinand is currently touring worldwide. Unfortunately, the band won't be in the New York area until October 22 at Hammerstein Ballroom.
