Sade is the soulful English band that are best known for their slow jams and lead singer, the seemingly ageless Sade Adu. They are a multli-Grammy award winning band that are back on tour, Sade Live, after nearly a decade. So lets reacquaint ourselves with some of Sade's greater songs.
5. No Ordinary Love
Love Deluxe (1992)
Sade professes her exhaustion in being in a one way relationship. This song won the group a Grammy and has become one of the groups signature songs.
4. Lover's Rock
Lover's Rock (2000)
“You are the rock/the rock that I cling to.” This song is great because you literally hear Sade Adu pouring her heart out, gracefully as Adu normally does.
3. Soldier of Love
Soldier of Love (2010)
That pounding military march drum beat, that signature sound of Sade's deep soulful sound marks the group's return to prominence in the 2010 hit from he groups album of the same name. The lyrics make this song, “I lost the use of my heart/but I'm still alive” cries Adu over the infectious drum beat. It was definitely a single worth waiting almost ten years for.
2. Smooth Operator
Diamond Life (1984)
Smooth Operator the story of a jet-set man that uses women for his own personal gain, is one of Sade's best. She coos over a fun jazzy beat. Smooth Operator was Sade's U.S. breakthrough hit.
1. By Your side
Lover's Rock (2000)
“Oh When You're Cold/ I'll be there/ to hold you tight to me. This song truly embodies Sade as a band. The lyrics, the saxophone in the background and Sade's honey-like voice pierce through your hear and takes you to a majestic place.
