Music Festival Preview: This Weekend

Since we've already prepped you for Governor's Ball this weekend (Ross our Managing Editor is going out to cover it), we've decided to highlight the other music festivals happening around the globe.

From the US to Canada and even across the pond, the festival choices this weekend are ripe for picking.

Whether you're looking to grove along to the indie rockers or head bang to those heavy metal masters, the bands set for this weekend will appease anyone.

If you're looking for some last minute concert tickets then read on to find out what else is going on in the rest of the world while everyone in the tri-state area gets ready for Governor's.

Orion Music + More

Orion Music + More, the Metallica-made festival, opens this weekend for anyone in the Michigan area. It takes place on Belle Island in Detroit on June 8 & 9. This is only the festival's second year, but it's already got a sweet lineup consisting of artists and bands from many different genres.

Naturally, Metallica is a headliner of the festival, but Orion will also feature sets from Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rise Against, BASSNECTAR, Dropkick Murphys, Gogol Bordello, Foals, Silversun Pickups, The Joy Formidable, Japandroids, Fu Manchu, and many others. Check out the full lineup here

The Parklife Weekender

Parklife is back on in Manchester, England and is stacked with great bands and DJs for the popular music hub to enjoy. It will take place both June 8 & 9 in Heaton Park.

Here's just a taste of the bands and artists that can be found at Parklife this weekend: Rita Ora, The Maccabees, The Horrors, Jessie Ware, Disclosure, The Temper Trap, Aluna George, Baauer, Savages, Joey Bada$$, Boys Noize, Fake Blood, Jamie Jones, and many others. Check out the full lineup here.

Field Trip Music & Arts Festival

Taking place only on Saturday (June 8), this Toronto-based festival is sure to not disappoint. This is the first-ever Field Trip Music & Arts Festival, marking the tenth anniversary of the Arts & Crafts label.

Due to the fact that it's a label putting on the festival, nearly every act has already been signed to Arts & Crafts, which can be seen as both good and bad. Despite how exclusive this makes the lineup, you can also know that Arts & Crafts truly believes that each of these acts will be quite successful and are worth a chance to go see. They've even staggered the lineup so that it is possible to catch every artist!

Some of the acts that Field Trip is offering are Broken Social Scene, Feist, Bloc Party, Stars, Ra Ra Riot, Still Life Still, and many others.
